Foreign workers in France

European citizens: work permit is not needed to work for a season in France, except for Bulgarian and Romanian workers who are still provisionally required to have a work permit. They also must obtain a "European Community" residence permit (carte de séjour).

Labour Code

  • Foreign workers are subjected to the same laws and rules than French workers relating to individual and collective rights, working time, compensatory rest, pay, leave, health and safety at work.
  • The Labour Code defines basic rules relating to the labour law; collective agreements and company agreements aim at adapting and completing Labour Code measures to particular sectors (and businesses) in order to improve workers' rights.
