Foreign seasonal workers : what you need to know about residence permit, the labour law, and the healthcare coverage.
Foreign workers in France
European citizens: work permit is not needed to work for a season in France, except for Bulgarian and Romanian workers who are still provisionally required to have a work permit. They also must obtain a "European Community" residence permit (carte de séjour).
Non-European citizens: work permit is needed. Seasonal workers can obtain a specific temporary residence permit if their seasonal contract lasts more than 3 months.Employers are responsible for work permit applications.
A student residence permit automatically entitles you to work up to 60 % of the legal yearly working time, that is 1607 hours in France. It means that students cannot work over 964 hours a year without obtaining a work permit.
